Charles H. Martin, 84, of East Moline, IL, died peacefully Sunday, September 4, 2016, at Rosewood Care Center of Moline, Moline, IL.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2016, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Memorials may be made to the family.
Charles was born on January 31, 1932, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Benjamin F. and Margaret M. Catterton Martin. He worked as a grinder and fork lift operator for John Deere, retiring in 1989. Charles was a veteran, having proudly served as a drill sergeant in the United States Army as well as serving in the National Guard.
Survivors include his daughters, Margaret “Vonnie” Lindstrom, East Moline, IL, and Mary Frances, Ocala, FL; son, Charles (Rusty) Martin, Matherville, IL; grandchildren, Aaron, Dawn, Danielle, Charles E., Jonathan, Anthoney, Susan, Rachel, Christina, Giselle, and Tristan; several great grandchildren; brother, Frank, East Moline, IL; sisters, Ida, East Moline, IL; Joan, Moline, IL; Delores, Milan, IL; and Georgia, Ankeny, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 spouses; daughter, Velma; 2 brothers; and 4 sisters.
