Doris J Larson

Doris J. Larson, 89, of Orion died on April 5, 2016 at her home.

A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016 at the Orion United Methodist Church, 407 12 Avenue, Orion.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-7 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. 1301 4th Street, Orion.  Interment will be at Western Township Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to her family.

Doris was born on September 24, 1926 in Coal Valley the daughter of Arthur and Marie Willhouse Frank.  She married Bernard “Pat” Larson on December 2, 1945 in Orion.  He preceded her in death on August 1, 2002.

Over the years Doris was employed at numerous places over the years starting at the Orion Café, Canteen Services, International Harvester and Doris retired as the playground monitor at C.R. Hanna Elementary School.  She was a member of the Orion United Methodist Church as well as a number of card clubs.  Above all was her love of family and her cat, “Honey”.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth E. (Shirley) Larson, Lynn Center, IL, Connie (Richard “Smorg”) Hamerlinck, Orion, IL, Dean (Connie) Larson, Orion, IL, and Lana (Rex Mess) Larson, Wheatland, IA; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Washburn, Coal Valley, IL; sisters-in-law, Sylvia Larson, Loretta Larson, Norma Bailey, and Muriel Larson, all of SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
