Jon Blade

Jon Robert Blade, 67, of Lynn Center, IL, passed away Monday September 25, 2023, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, after a short battle with cancer.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at the Andover Park Pavilion, Andover, IL on Sunday October 15, 2023, from 3-6 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Village of Andover Park. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Orion is assisting the family.

Jon was born on October 15, 1955, in Moline, to Bert A. and Veryl E. (Larson) Blade and attended school in Orion, IL. Jon went on to drive a truck for Blade Trucking and worked as a snowbird for IDOT until 2017, when he retired. He then found joy working for the Village of Andover, taking pride in caring for the village and its park. His true pride and joy, however, were his grandchildren, which he enjoyed spending time with and attending their activities. During his free time, you would often find him taking a drive around the countryside.

He is survived by special friend Tammy Johnson; children, Elizabeth Maturure, Jake (Allison) Blade, Bubba (Marissa) Johnson, and Amanda (Jake Miller) Marshall; grandchildren, Mariah Griffin & Gianna Maturure, Adelynn & Jason Blade, Austin & Ellie Johnson, Olen & Emma Marshall; brothers, Mike and Jim Blade; nieces, Ashley Galle and Jessie “Short” Johnston; and cousin, Marta Solomonson.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law Robin Blade; and cousin, Linda Lindburg.
