Jwala Prasad Pandit

Jwala Prasad Pandit, 75, of Bettendorf, passed away at UnityPoint Health Trinity in Rock Island on Tuesday, November 5, 2019.

Funeral service will be at 7:30 p.m. with visitation beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Cremation rites will follow the visitation.  Memorials may be made to the family for an educational fund to be established later.

Jwala was born in Ratnapur, Tanahun Nepal on December 2, 1943.  He was the son of Prem Nidhi and Tara Devi Pandit.  Jwala married Menaka Devkota in Gorkha, Nepal.  He was a bank manager in Nepal until 1998.

Jwala provided social work while living in Napal, where he was an advocate for education and began numerous scholarship programs.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Menaka; children, Ramesh (Sarita) Pandit, Rashmikala (Radha Krishna) Paudel, Rad (Shila) Pandit, all of Bettendorf; grandchildren, Ragya, Rakshya, Shraja, Raghav, Bharabi, Angela, and Allisa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Chayadevi Adhikari.
