Steffani D. Weir, 56, of Moline, IL, died peacefully at home on October 25, 2017. In lieu of flowers, spend time making memories with your loved ones.
Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services.
Stef was born on February 10, 1961, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Joel and Pamela Turner Smilgis. She married her kindred soul Douglas Weir on July 8, 1988, in Moline, IL; he preceded her death on September 22, 2013. She worked as a registered nurse for 34 years at Lutheran Hospital in Moline and each successive organization to Unity Point Health. Professionally, Stef was loved by her patients and respected by her peers.
"Oma" enjoyed being with her beloved grandson, Cole. She felt it was her responsibility to introduce him to the music of Stevie Ray Vaughn and the art of gardening.
She taught her daughter, Cami, to believe fully what Jane Austen wrote, "It isn't what we say or think that defines us, but what we do." She taught her how to make the most beautiful Santa cookies in the world, urged her not to speak in cliches, and to have a basic working knowledge of all power tools.
She was an avid dog lover and rescuer. She taught her family to "Wag More and Bark Less” and waiting at the Rainbow Bridge are numerous well-loved pets: Molly, Tupelo, Buddy Guy, Louie, Habibi, and Bella. Stef was selfless to a fault and anyone that knew her will miss her terribly.
Survivors include her daughter, Cami Weir (Andrew Hammes), Bettendorf, IA; grandson, Cole Hammes; mother, Pamela (Leonard) Mahieu, Moline, IL; sisters Kimmerly (Bob) Hornick, Rock Island, IL and Kassandra Smilgis, Moline, IL.
