A. Virginia Schmidt

December 19, 1918 — December 18, 2005

Mrs. Myrle Schmidt went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2005, age 86, in Chesterfield, MO, after an extended illness. She was a life long resident of Moline until a year ago when she and her husband moved to Missouri to be near their daughter.
Virginia Schmidt was born in Moline on December 19, 1918, to Alice and Carl Johnson. She graduated from Moline High School in 1937. She then worked as a secretary to Harold Swanson at the Moline Daily Dispatch for 18 years. After raising her family, she returned to work part-time at Hedberg's Office Equipment, Paragon Commercial Interiors and the Evangelical Free Church.
She married Myrle Schmidt, who survives her, on April 15, 1956. Other survivors include her daughter, Joan Schacht, Chesterfield, MO, and sons Paul Schmidt, Carlton, OR, and Tim Schmidt, Far Hills, NJ. She was also survived by her brother Donald Johnson of Moline. She was preceded in death by her son Kevin, who died as an infant, and her brother Robert Johnson of Park Ridge, IL.
Virginia, a faithful Christian, was a life long member of the Evangelical Free Church, where she was active in both Sunday school work as well as the Woman's Society.
She was dearly loved and will be very much missed but is now happy in her heavenly home.
A memorial service will be held at the First Evangelical Free Church on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 4 pm. There will be a time of sharing after the funeral at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to Samaritan's purse or a local hospice of your choice.
