Alan J Hoffman

Alan J. Hoffman, 80, of Moline, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018, at the National Cemetery at the Rock Island Arsenal, where military honors will be performed by the Moline American Legion Post 246.  Those wishing to attend should meet at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Ave, Moline, by 1:15 p.m. for a procession to the cemetery.

Alan was born on June 24, 1937 in Davenport, the son of John and Edith Hauser Hoffman.  He received his bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL.  Alan married Peggy Garrison on May 26, 1990 in Moline; she preceded him in death in 2016.

Alan worked as a manager at Radio Shack, and as a Park Ranger in CA during the early 1960s.  Alan was a veteran, having proudly served in the U.S. Army.  He enjoyed working in the yard and being outside.  He loved bird watching, wildlife, and 60’s music.

Survivors include his brother, David (Loretta) Hoffman, Moline, and Jack (Carita) Hoffman, Horicon, WI; step-children, Jim and Jeff Swank; four nephews and nieces; and many great nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, and his parents.
