Alan was born June 4, 1960 in Davenport, the son of Jim Martin and Carol Martin Funk. He married Patricia C. Nylin on July 5, 2011 in Rock Island.
Alan was employed in the post press room at the Moline Dispatch. He enjoyed weather and music statistics.
