Albert A. Martens, 88, of Orion, died November 28, 2007 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Rite of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2007at Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday with a rosary at 2 p.m. at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. Burial will be in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, St. Malachy's Catholic Church, Geneseo or Trinity Pathway Hospice.
Albert was born October 4, 1919 in Rapids City, IL to Maurice and Emma (VanderMeersch) Martens. He married Dorothy J. McCauley on November 25, 1948 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rock Island.
Since childhood Albert farmed in the Coal Valley and Orion areas until 1997 when he retired. He took much joy and pride in feeding his cattle.
Albert was a member of Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion. He was a former member of the Catholic Order of Forrester's. He was a member of the Henry County Farm Bureau, Henry County Beef Association, and the N.F. O. (National Farmers Organization). He loved ballroom dancing with his wife and was on a bowling league for many years. His greatest achievements were his farming and his family.
