Albert Lee "Bus" Martin, age 90, of Orion, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Trinity, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 9, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion. Visitation is from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. 1301-4th Street, Orion. Burial is at Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion where he was a member.
Bus was born April 4, 1921 to parents Omar and Emma Anderson Martin in Mercer County, IL. He married Arlyne Wolfe. He later married Arlene Malmen on October 9, 1954 in Moline.
Bus Martin graduated from Rock Island High School in 1938. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force Army Air Corp. Bus sold automobiles for 40 years for Fred Piehl Motors and for Zimmerman Motors in Rock Island and retired in 1987. Bus was a member of the Tebala Shrine in Rockford, and also a 30 year member of the Rock Island Masonic Lodge #658 AF & AM. He was a loyal Chicago Cub and Chicago Bear fan. Bus made many friends during his life and loved relating stories old and new.
