Albert “Al” E. Dunton, 84, of Moline, IL, died Saturday, January 21, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA.
A Masonic service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2017, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. with a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park.
Al was born on November 18, 1932, in May, OK, the son of Virgil A. and Edna Grace Shaw Dunton. He married Virginia Arlene Wells on July 31, 1953, at Ft. Riley, KS. He worked as an inspection special investigator for John Deere Plow and Planter Works for 40 years, retiring on May 1, 1992.
Al was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #1014 AF & AM, where he was a master mason. Also, he was a member of Scottish Rite and the coordinator of Bodies Valley of Moline. Al loved watching westerns and enjoyed being around his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia; daughters, Larene Paul, Belinda Mangelsdorf, and Lisa Feliksiak; son, John Dunton; 7 grandchildren, Jesse, Jason, Stephanie, Ben, Rebecca, Melissa, and Nicholas; 14 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Virginia Dunton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Scheryl; 2 sisters, Helen Newton and Wilma Lea Braden; brother, Lloyd Dunton.
