Albert “Al” J. Leemans, 86, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at UnityPoint - Trinity Rock Island.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3209 60th Street, Moline. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Entombment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetey, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice in Al’s name.
Al was born on June 21, 1931, in Moline, the son of Joseph and Madeline (Pype) Leemans. He married Yvonne Greiner on October 29, 1955 at St. Ambrose Church, Milan. He was employed by Local 25, as a Steamfitter (39 years) and a member (60 years); and a service engineer at Whiting Corp, Harvey, IL (15 years). He was a member of the Midniters, a barbershop quartet which sang in the first Music Guild Show of “The Music Man” and later enjoyed Karoke at various places in the Quad Cities. He enjoyed his family and fishing. Al called himself the poor man’s pal.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne; children, David (Bonnie), Port Byron, Jeffery, Ft Akinson, WI, Ronald (Karen), Coal Valley, and Doniel, Hillsboro, OR; five grandchildren, Josh (Ashley) Catour, Jamie (Brit) Hitchins, Amy (Rich) Hendricks, Adam (Hannah) Leemans, and Ryan Leemans; three great grandchildren, JD and Brady Catour, and Grayson Hitchins; sister, Sue Aubry, Moline; brother, Arthur, Moline.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond, Eugene and Daniel; sisters, Mary Louise Van Hootegem, Alice Polito Raes, and Edna Giromini.
