Aletha Abbott, 96, formerly of Orion passed away peacefully December 31, 2011, at Hope Creek Nursing Home, East Moline, IL.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 6th, 2012, Beulah Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, 1301-4 th St., Orion. Cremation will follow the visitation. Inurnment will be in Rural Township Cemetery at Beulah Church. Memorials may be made to Beulah Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
Ellen Aletha Brown was born November 16, 1915, in rural Keithsburg, Illinois to Orville and Ellen (Streets) Brown. She married Marvin L. Welch in 1934 and they had two children, Sylvia-Jean and Cheryl. On January 28, 1946, she married Franklin L. Abbott in Morris, IL and together had a son John.
Aletha was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was involved in farming since the day she was born and enjoyed being outdoors whether it was working in the garden or taking a few minutes to go fishing. She was an active member of Beulah Presbyterian Church and was seated at the same pew every Sunday while she was able. She was an inspiration of hope and determination to all and will be deeply missed.
