Alfred F. Krauel, Jr., 69, of, Naples FL, formerly of Moline, IL, died April 15, 2013, at Avow Hospice in Naples, FL after a sudden onset of an illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 22, 2013, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Estate where Military Honors will be provided by Moline American Legion Post #246. Another Memorial Service will be held at American Legion Post #135, Naples, FL, on May 19, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to University of Iowa Children's Miracle Network, American Legion Post #135 in Naples, FL, or Avow Hospice in Naples, FL.
Alfred was born on August 11, 1943, in Moline, IL, the son of Alfred F. and Ethel (Potter) Krauel, Sr. He married Georgia Gilliand on December 23, 1964. He later married Arlys Fickling Benzon on October 30, 1993, in Moline, IL. He was a United States Army Veteran having served from 1964 - 1967 in Vietnam. Alfred worked as a Lab Technician for the former Moline Public Hospital and later for Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, in Silvis, IL, until l998. Alfred was a Life Member of the Moline VFW Post #2153 where he served as Senior Vice President in 1996. He relocated to Naples, FL, in 1998. After working as a Chemical Technician at Glen Eagle Country Club and Wilderness Country Club, he worked as a Laboratory Technician for Women's Health Center. Alfred completed his career at Anchor Medical Laboratory in 2010. Al was a member of the American Legion Post #135, Naples, FL. He was also a member of the Naples Amvet. Al enjoyed fishing, stained glass work and most of all spending time with all his family and friends.
