Eleanora Killion, 95, formerly of Orion, IL, died on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, IL.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday May 29, 2013, at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., 1301 4th St., Orion. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Opheim, IL. Memorials have been established to the First Baptist Church, Orion, or the donor's choice.
Alice Olivia Eleanora, the daughter of George Johnson and Minnie (Samuelson) Johnson, was born October 21, 1917, in Ophiem, IL. She married the love of her life, Ralph Killion, on Oct. 30, 1941 and he preceded her in death on October 30, 2004.
Eleanora attended the one room school house in Ophiem. She moved to Orion when she married and was best known in the community for her cooking and baking, especially her rye bread and coffee cakes, and was proud to bake pies each year for the Orion Fall Festival competition. She was a terrific homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother as well as a great role model for all. She was a long time and very active member of the Orion Baptist Church and Shining Lights when she lived in Orion.
Surviving are five children (and spouses) including, Charles (Sherry) Killion, Springfield, Ohio, Kathy ``Elaine' Pemberton, Rio, Linda (Rodney) Partin, Marianna, Fla., Roger (Denise) Killion, Coal Valley, and Douglas (Amy) Killion, Orion; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters; three brothers; and son-in-law, Gary Pemberton.
