Allan A. Andresen of Rock Island died Tuesday October 4, 2005 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Services will be 10 a.m.Friday, October 7th at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline. Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Thursday at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Lt.d 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or to the Quad City Ostomy Association.
Mr. Andresen was born October 31, 1929 in Charlotte, IA, a son of Marvin A. and Thelma I. Deletzke Andresen. He married Rose Marie Taylor February 17, 1957 at Augustana Lutheran Church, Andover, IL.
He graduated from Welton High School, Welton, IA and attended Augustana College. He was a Korean War veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1947-1951.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as an usher. He was formerly a member of First Lutheran Church, Rock Island, where he was a past president of the Church Council.
He was an industrial salesman with employment at ITT Autowize Auto Parts (Davenport), and Service Automotive (Rock Island), where he retired in 2000. His career as a salesman was special as customers and clients became lasting friends throughout the years. He never failed to offer a helping hand whenever there was a need.
Allan was a devoted, loving husband and a proud father and grandfather of six grandsons. He was a great storyteller.
Survivors include his wife Rose, sons and daughters in law, Dr. Jeffrey and Melissa Andresen, Haslett, MI, Scott and Carla Andresen, Urbana, IL, and daughter Julie Carlin and son in law Tim, Rock Island; grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas Andresen, William Andresen, and Joe, Ben, and Jacob Carlin; a brother, Grant, Manlius, IL, sisters in law, Evelyn Andresen, Davenport, sister in law, Doris Andresen, Nevada, IA, brother in law and sister in law, Glenn and Ginnie Taylor, Milan, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Margo, and two brothers, Wayne and Robert.
