Almon L. Bowman, 93, completed his journey on earth February 18, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis, IN and went to be with his Lord and Saviour and be reunited with his beloved wife Violet.
A memorial service will begin 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25th at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline, IL with visitation one hour prior. Memorials may be made to Moody Bible Radio Ministry.
Almon was born April 2, 1912 in Wethersfield, IL to Swan and Emma (Johnson) Bowman, who had immigrated from Sweden a few years prior. He married Helen Violet Hoods October 1, 1947 in Kewanee, IL and was blessed with 49 wonderful years together. They moved to Moline in 1959 where they resided until 1993 before relocating to Indianapolis to be close to their daughter Marilyn.
Almon split his 40 year working career between the Walworth Co in Kewanee and the John Deere Plant Works before retiring in 1977. He served his country in the Army during World War II. Almon was an active member of the Moline's First Evangelical Free Church serving as a deacon and in their choir.
Primary to Almon throughout his life was his love and unselfish commitment to his God and his family. Other interests included gardening and following various local, college and professional sports teams. Reading and listening to Christian radio programs also became especially important to him later in life.
Survivors include son John and wife Dianne Bowman (Gurnee, IL ) and daughter Marilyn and husband Roger Copple (Camby, IN) plus grandchildren Eric Nelson (Indianapolis) and three current college students Kristen Nelson, Michael Bowman and Steven Bowman.
Almon was preceded in death by dear wife Violet and his parents and brother Russell.
