Alvin K Walker, Sr., 74, of Lynn Center IL., died November 1, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Cambridge, IL with military rites being conducted. Memorials may be made to Cambridge Church of God.
Alvin was born November 17, 1934 in Tilden, IL to Virgil and Mary Alice (Redfairn) Walker. He married Myrtle P. Middleton on August 10, 1957 in Corinth, Mississippi.
Alvin worked for 30 years at John Deere Harvester, East Moline. He was in U.S. Marines from 1954-1956 serving in the Korean Conflict. He then joined the reserves till 1962. He was a member of the American Legion Post #2910, Bloomington, IL. He was a member of Cambridge Church of God where he was a former adult Sunday school teacher and also helped in keeping of the grounds and maintenance for the church. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and traveling.
