Amele Abbey

Amele Abbey, 71, of Moline, IL, passed away, September 22nd, 2023, at St. Anthony’s Nursing & Rehab in Rock Island, IL.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 14th, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 13th, 2023, at the same church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory is assisting the family.

Amele Abbey was born on December 31st, 1951, in Togo, the daughter of Paul Abbey and Ayoko Atsou.  Amele was living with her daughter, Amevi.  She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She loved singing at church, dancing, and cooking.

Survivors include her children Komi Mokpokpo Avouglah, Yawo Sitsofe Avuglah, Yawoavi Avouglah, Rose Yawa Avuglah, and Amevi Avouglah; siblings; Odette Migelonya, Jeanne Migelonya, Nathalie Kaboua & Moko Abbey.

She was preceded in death by her husband Komla Avouglah.
