Andricka “Hank” Navarro, passed away on November 9, 2024, at 93 years old soon after his family said their goodbyes at Illini Restorative Care.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.
Hank was born on July 2, 1931, in Moline to Geronimo and Maria Davila. He was the second youngest of 6 children. Hank was a hard worker. At 10 he set pins at a bowling alley in Moline. Then he worked in the onion fields where he hopped a train to Pleasant Valley. At 15, was hired at John Deere as a Roust-about. He worked his way up at Deere for 38 years, retiring as an Advanced Engineering Analyst in 1985. He served in the army stationed in Germany during the Korean conflict. There he married Edeltraud ‘Jean’, who preceded him in death in 2016 after 62 years of Marriage.
He enjoyed his retirement by immersing himself in hobbies such as coin collecting, genealogy, and spending time with his daughters, old friends, and family. He was fond of the outdoors, spending his time playing golf, and working with his former son-in-law, Steve Andrews, on the farm until 91 years old. There wasn’t a child or animal that didn’t immediately like him. He always had candy to give to kids, and good scritches for cats and dogs.
Survivors include his children; Susie, Henry Stephen, and Stephanie (Mike); grandchildren, Seth (Brissa) and Nicole (Rasul); great grandchild, Sergio Andrews; his beloved pups and grandpups, Sammi, Munkie, Moose, and Muppet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings, Antonia Lopez, Martin Navarro, Virginia Almanza, Joe Navarro, Angel Navarro, and grandson, Jeremy Torres.
Special thanks to the staff at New Perspective and Illini Restorative Care in Silvis.
After a while, Crocodile!
