on July 25, 1918 in Ranchuelo Las Villas, Cuba to Francisco and Zoila Basulto Cobos. She married Martin Sanchez on May 29, 1982 in Rockford, IL. Angela took great pride in completing her medical degree at the Faculty of Havana Cuba at age 23. She graduated from Medical school not only with high honors, but also special scholastic awards. She did her residency in Washington D.C. and later post graduate work in New York City where she earned extra money by drawing ongoing surgery as they were being performed by other surgeons to be later used to illustrate medical books. She later worked as a physician at the Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. She worked as an OBGYN for 20 years and later became a psychiatrist at the East Moline State Hospital from 1962 to 1975. She continued her work as a psychiatrist at Madden Mental Health Center, Chicago in 1975. She became director of the center the last 5 years before she retired. Angela was a caring and excellent physician, and a wonderful, caring mother, daughter, and friend. Throughout her life she managed to find time to raise her family, and enjoy life. She was a very charitable person having given contributions to many different organizations. Angela loved to read, sing, and dance and was an awesome bongo player. She liked to paint ceramics, and was a master at painting with watercolors, one of the hardest media to work with. She also loved going to the casino and talk to her plants. It was a privilege to have known her.
