Anthony Penca, 95, of Silvis, Illinois, passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, at the Illini Restorative Care, Nursing Facility in Silvis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3209 60th St, Moline, IL 61265. Visitation will be from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd, 6601 38th Ave, Moline, IL 61265. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. Memorials may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church or WesleyLife, Illini Restorative Care, 1455 Hospital Rd, Silvis, IL 61282.
Anthony was born June 10, 1927, in Silvis, Illinois to Anthony and Theresa (Perkovic) Penca. Anthony worked as a superintendent of maintenance at International Harvester. He was united in marriage to Bernadette Tragarz on October 10, 1953, in Moline, Illinois. Anthony served his country in the United States Army during WWII, April 22, 1946 - May 8, 1950, he was squad leader of Military Police 677 in Japan. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal Japan. Anthony was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife; children, Pamela (Mark) Schwigen, Tony (Kari) Penca, Paula Penca, Matt (Trish) Penca; grandchildren, Christopher (Hanalei Darbar) Schwigen, Patrick (Chelley) Schwigen, Haleigh Penca, Jordan Penca, Jonah Penca; and great grandchildren, Olic Schwigen, and Arlo Schwigen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Joseph Penca, and sister-in-law, Ursula Penca.
