Ardon “Ardie” R. Thompson, 73 of Silvis, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at his residence.

A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38 Avenue, Moline.  Visitation will be from 10-11.  Burial will be at Dayton Cemetery in Colona where military rites will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246.  Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or Good Samaritan Society Services at Home.

Ardie was born on May 30, 1943 in Kewanee.  He married Ada Darlene Williams on January 14, 1968 in Fort Hood, Texas, she preceded him in death on December 28, 2007.

Ardie was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country from 1965 to 1967.  He was employed with Case IH as an assembly lineman for 36 years retiring on July 1, 2002.  Ardie enjoyed collecting trains and going to car shows.  He also loved going out to eat with his family and his special friend, Sandy.  Ardie especially looked forward to Saturday mornings when he would meet up with the local IH retirees for breakfast.  He was very sociable and never met a stranger.

Survivors include his significant other, Sandra Wenz; daughter, Kim Thompson of Rock Island; brother, Ron (Pat) Thompson of Colona; sisters, Zelda (Jimmy) Cowan of Geneseo, Diane “Toot” (Alan) Deets of Sterling, and Carolyn (Bill) Neal of Milan; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; Mother, Bernice Ockee Thompson; brother-in-law, Wade Williams and mother-in-law, Helen Williams.
