Arleen J. Swanson, 98, of Orion, IL, died Monday, September 23, 2013, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline, IL, with family by her side.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Orion, IL. Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery, Orion. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Arleen was born on August 11, 1915, in Orion, IL, the daughter of Claus and Gertrude (Gustafson) Isakson. She married Russell Swanson on December 30, 1938, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Orion and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1978.
Arleen graduated from Orion High School in 1933 and worked at the former Oscar Peterson Sausage Factory in Orion. She later became a farm wife and homemaker. Arleen was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she sang in the church choir and was part of the Clover Circle. She was also a member of Royal Neighbors of America and once served as an Oracle. Arleen enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing cards and being active with the Orion senior citizens. She very much loved spending time with her family and friends.
