Arlo F. Vallejo, 60, of Moline, IL, died Saturday, November 10, 2018 in Moline.
Private family services for immediate family only will be held per Arlo’s wishes, and Celebration of Life Gathering will follow from 5-9 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2018, at Boulder’s East End Club, 3712 4th Ave., Moline. Memorials may be made to the family. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., is assisting the family.
Arlo was born on February 24, 1958 in Moline, the son of Nathaniel and Patricia (Kelly) Vallejo. He married his wife Dawn who were together for over 20 years. He worked for the City of Moline Public Works for 29 years as a Street Supervisor. He was a standout baseball and basketball player at Moline High School and furthered his basketball career at Trenton Jr. College and Missouri Western. Arlo was inducted into the Illinois ASA Slow Pitch Hall of Fame and the Mexican American Basketball Hall of Fame. He was named All State and All Regional with his traveling men’s ASA slow pitch Jim Knoxville Tap softball team. He also umpired ASA slow pitch games. Arlo loved golf, watching the Bears and Cubs play, but most of all, he will be remembered as being a wonderful father, husband, and grandpa. Arlo had a large loving heart and would do anything to help his family and friends!
Survivors include his wife, Dawn; children, Brooke (Joe) Ketner, Coal Valley, Austin Vallejo, Beverly Hills, CA, Stephanie Scritchfield, East Moline, Stephen (Berta) Scritchfield, Moline; grandchildren, Addie, Carver, Alex, Anthony, Aaron, Xavier, and Alese; and siblings, Zeno (Dee Dee), Orlando (Kathy), Gina (Rich), Una (Bob), Cathy (Lo), Benita (Tom), Leta (Pat), and Tina.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eugene.
