Arthur J. “Art” Norton, Jr., 74, of Tampico, Illinois, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Eagles Club, 911 Mansur Ave, Carbon Cliff, IL 61239.
Art was born on March 13, 1948, in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Arthur J. and Martha M. (Strandgard) Norton, Sr. He married Marilyn A. Babrowski on July 18, 2011, in Sterling. Art was previously employed in maintenance for the Iowa Public School System, retiring in 2010. He was a U.S. Veteran, having served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Art enjoyed doing crafts and working on cars and motorcycles. Which he also loved to ride. He liked traveling to Daytona for the Turkey run every year. Art was a food connoisseur. He enjoyed cooking and eating at Jim’s Ribs, Maid Rite and Frank’s Pizza.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Georgina; stepdaughter, Cecelia Bernard; two grandchildren; sisters, Mary Jo Boyd, Linda Cordingley, Cathy Jones; brothers, Randy (Kelly) Norton, Charles (Abby) Hanna; special friends Ron Taylor and Sena Ropp.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
