Arthur F. “Freddy” Cheek, 92, of Moline, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church (1611 41 Street, Moline) and a Memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the Church. Inurnment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
Freddy was born on June 17, 1926, in Hannibal, Missouri, the son of Fred and Anna Amelia Groene Cheek. He was a United States Navy Veteran having served during World War II. He married Ella Mae Shoemyer on September 5, 1948, in Hannibal, Missouri. Freddy worked as a guard at Farmall for 33 years. He enjoyed golf, fishing and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae, Children, Judy (John) Cate from Chatham, IL; Mary Campagna of East Moline; grandsons, Matthew (Melissa) Cate and Joey (Eileen) Campagna; and three great grandchildren, Evan, Emily and Anthony.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua; sisters, Virginia and Marcella and a son-in-law, Tony.
