Barbara Lee Montgomery, age 66 of Moline died January 3, 2006 at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7th at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Avenue, Moline with a rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. Burial will be at St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or to her family.
Barbara was born on March 8, 1939 in Rock Island, the daughter of Arthur and Alice Violet Anderson Montgomery.
Barbara was employed as a fork truck driver for Case I.H. retiring in 1992 after 28 years. She was a member of UAW-AFL Local 1304, where she was recording secretary of the UAW#1304 Retirees for 2 terms. She has held the post of Vice Chairman and Guard of Guard Alliance for retired Americans and Quad City UAW Retired Workers Council. Barb was an avid sports fan and die hard Cub Fan. She was also a former member of the Moline Girls Softball Team. Barbara was a friend and protector of cats, birds and all wild creatures. She will be sorely missed by Jim Reynolds and Ruth Smith of UAW Local 1304 and many other friends too numerous to mention.
Survivors include 2 brothers, Richard and Lorraine Montgomery of LaValle, Wisconsin and William Montgomery of Waterloo, Iowa; a niece Richarda Hodge of Tennessee and special friends Frank and Vy Flaherty, Jerry and Robin Carden, Rev. Leo Gildner, and Drs. Enriques and Flowers.
