Barbara A. Swanson, 76, of Orion, IL, died Friday, December 04, 2015, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, IL.
Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Midwest Affiliate. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd., Orion, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Barbara was born on August 22, 1939, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Arthur F. and Marie Hinkel Gravitt. She married Marvin L. Swanson on June 6, 1959, in Milan, IL.
Barbara was an exceptional seamstress and baker. She was known for her world's flakiest crust, coffee cakes, and cookies. She loved children, especially helping those in need. Barbara was the pick of the litter.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin; daughters, Lisa (Keith) Samuelson, Lynn Center, IL, and Lynn Swanson, Des Moines, IA; grandson, Alex Samuelson, Lynn Center, IL; granddaughter, Anna Marie Samuelson, Lynn Center, IL; siblings, Janice (Richard) Seibert, Moline, IL, Richard (Pat) Gravitt, Moline, IL, Marge (Jerry) Maddox, Coal Valley, IL, and Sandy (Don) Metzner, Little York, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Michael and Gene.
