Barbara Ruth Carmichael Upton, 88, of Silvis, IL, formerly of Unionville, MO, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016, at Aspen Rehabilitation and Health Care, Silvis, IL.
A graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 29, 2016, at Greenview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Barbara was born on May 18, 1928, in Unionville, MO, the daughter of Clell and Agnes F. Burns Valentine. She married Virgil Clyde Carmichael in 1946, and he preceded her in death in 1979. Together they had 2 children, Garry Carmichael and Randy Carmichael, Sr. She later married Ralph E. Upton in 1982, and he preceded her in death in 2005. She worked as an aid for the East Moline Care Center, for 45 years, retiring in 1983.
Ruth was an avid cook and loved to travel. She attended several area churches.
Survivors include her son, Garry Carmichael; grandsons, Todd, Tim, Randy Jr., Jason, John, Troy, and Chad; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; very special friend and nurse, Valarie Vols.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 husbands, Virgil and Ralph; son, Randy Carmichael, Sr.; 3 sisters; 1 brother; and daughters-in-law, Leota and Nina Carmichael.
