Beatrice "Bea" E. Odean, 93, formerly of Moline died October 6, 2006 at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 9, 2006 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be 2:00 - 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church, Moline or The American Red Cross.
Bea was born October 30, 1912 in Rockford, IL, the daughter of Bengt A. and Hildur (Johansson) Bengtson. She moved to Moline as a small child and was raised by her aunt. She graduated from Moline High School and attended Augustana College. She married Wallace R. Odean on November 9, 1935. He died February 15, 1956.
She retired as Executive Director of the Moline YWCA. Prior to that, she served as Director of the Black Hawk and Moline Chapters, American Red Cross. She was the church secretary at the former Gordon Memorial Congregational Church. She was Credit Manager for 12 years at Sears Roebuck in Moline.
Mrs. Odean was a member of First Congregational Church, Moline where she was a long time Sunday school teacher, served on the mission committee and the Diaconate and chaired the Deaconesses. She was a member of the Friendship Guild. She was also a former board member of Churches United, taught in the city wide vacation bible school at Logan School, served on the board of the Zonta Club of Moline-Rock Island, member of the Moline Women's Club and was a member of the Clara Lodge Independent Order of Viking, Moline.
