Beatrice "Bea" Strandlund

Our Dear Aunt Bea, Beatrice Dahl Strandlund, passed away on July 31, 2019.

Celebration of life gathering will be held from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2019, at The Ark at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1001 9th Street, Orion.

Bea was the oldest daughter born to Charles and Frances (Peterson) Dahl on February 1, 1921, in Orion.  She attended Orion schools before working for Container Corporation for 13 years.  She made many lifelong friends while she worked there.  Bea then made her lifelong career as a Beautician.  She was partners with her best friend Eloise Murphy Olson, operating the L and B Beauty Shop in Rock Island.  Bea took an interest in hair and everyone she met.  Bea lived in Rock Island until she moved into an assisted living facility.

Bea married Robert L. Strandlund at St. Paul Lutheran Church on October 21, 1961.  He preceded her in death on April 24, 1988.  They never had children, but Bea treated all of her nieces and nephews as her own.  Everyone who knew Bea considered her their own “Aunt Bea”.

Bea’s interests included talking to everyone, travel, and taking pictures.  She was able to visit Sweden, France, Germany and many trips around the US.  Bea left a legacy of family, friends and 50 photo albums of all the people in her life.  In later years, she enjoyed looking through all the pictures of family, friends and trips.

Survivors include her brothers, Dick (Marilyn) Dahl, Jim (Shirley) Dahl, brothers-in-law, Warren (Verna) Strandlund, Donald (Nina) Strandlund and very favorite niece, Christine Maxwell.  She is also survived by generations of nieces and nephews who all call her Aunt Bea.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sister, Rosemary (Al) Jagger, brother, Bill Dahl, sisters-in-laws, Mardelle Dahl and Dorothy Strandlund Hunt, nephew Nels Andrew Dahl.

Special thanks to the staff at Crosstown, Heritage Woods, Illini Restorative Care, and Friendship Manor who took such special care of Aunt Bea.

As Bea would always say, “Toot A Lou” or “Thank you much”.
