Benjamin R. Anderson, 78 of Rock Island died April 17, 2006 at Trinity Pathway Hospice at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, IA.
Graveside Military Services will be 11:30 Thursday, April 20, 2006 at the National Cemetery, rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #246. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. Memorials may be made the American Legion Post #246
Ben was born October 1, 1927 in Hiteman, IA to Charles & Hettie (Cooper) Anderson.
He married Edna Thomas on September 23, 1950 in Moline. He later married Nancy Riggs in 1968. She preceded him in death in 2003.
Ben was employed for the City of Moline in the Sanitation Department retiring in 1983 after 26 years.
Ben served in WWII in the U.S. Coast Guard from January 31, 1945 to May 8, 1946.
Ben was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross and for John Deere. He was a member of American Legion Post #246, Moline where he was past commander and was currently a chaplain.

He was preceded in death by wife, Nancy and his son Benjamin Anderson, Jr.
