Benjamin Edgar Roberts, age 80, of Moline, died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at his home.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal with military honors conducted by Moline American Legion Post #246. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline.
Benjamin was born May 8, 1928, in Moline, the son of Clyde P. and Ethel A. (Anderson) Roberts. He married Mary Delores Green. She preceded him in death on August 26, 1981.
Benjamin was employed as a painter by local Union #676. He was an army veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. Benjamin was a former member of Moline American Legion Post #246, and Moline V.F.W. Post #2153. He was a member of the Iowa Hawkeye parachute and skydiving team. Benjamin also enjoyed oil painting, wood working, and was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
