Bertil Sandin, 83, of East Moline, died on February 13, 2015 at UnityPoint Trinity Rock Island.

A memorial Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2015, at Salem Lutheran Church, 1724-15th Street, Moline, IL, with a luncheon immediately following at the Moline Viking club, 1450 41st Street, Moline. Cremation rites have been accorded, and private burial of cremains will take place National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Augustana College or Salem Lutheran Church.

Bertil was born March 27, 1931 in Forshaga, Sweden, the son of Karl and Karin Bodin Sandin. He married Lozetta M. Bohman on August 15, 1959 in Canton, IL.

Bertil lived in Forshaga, Sweden, Ottumwa, IA, Ladenburg, Germany and Moline, IL. He was employed as a manager for Deere & Company for 35 years, retiring in 1992. Bertil attended Augustana College, and received a B.A. from the University of Florida. He was a corporal in the Army serving from 1950 to 1953. Bertil was also a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Moline, was active in S.C.O.R.E., was a member of Thor Lodge 9, the Independent Order of the Vikings, where he served on the board of the Home Association. He enjoyed world travel, having visited a total of 90 countries for work and leisure.
