Betty J. Bergren, Moline, died Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Pathway Hospice in Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moline. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Burial will be in Glennwood Cemetery, Coal Valley. Memorials may be made to the American Liver Foundation or Trinity Lutheran Church.
Betty was born December 18, 1930 in Moline, a daughter of Fred and Matilda VanHecke Coopman. She graduated from Moline High School in 1949. She married Clayton Bergren on January 12, 1951.
She was a Tupperware dealer for two years, a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den mother for several years, worked at Modern Woodmen of America for three years, and worked at Deere & Company for 22 years, retiring in March 1986.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moline, a member of AARP, and a member of the American Liver Foundation. She received a liver transplant in 1994 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
She enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren. She loved sewing, painting, needlework and working on the computer.
Survivors include the widower, a daughter and son-in-law, Linda & Fred Polich, Coal Valley; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Sandra Bergren, Coal Valley; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy & James Salamie, Naperville, IL.; grandchildren: Jeffrey Bergren and his fiancee Emily Ray, Louisville, KY., Jennifer Bergren, New York City, and Nicholas, Kasey, & Stephanie Salamie, Naperville, a sister, Marie Lamb, East Moline, sisters-in-law Shirley Christiansen and Eleanor Bergren, Moline, an aunt, Lillian Whitmer, Silvis, and many nieces and nephews.
