Betty Jean Holden, of Marigold Nursing Home, Galesburg, Illinois, formerly from Orion, Illinois and Bishop Hill, Illinois passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Ltd. 1301-4th Street, Orion, IL. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial is at Western Township Cemetery, Orion.
Betty was born August 28, 1922 in Toulon, IL, the fourth child of Nelson and Edith Claybaugh Kilby She married Willard John Holden on August 28, 1938 in Orion. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1991
Her life was filled with caring for others in her family. Her beloved hobby was raising flowers, shrubs, and fruit trees which surrounded her homes like a fairyland. She attended Henry County schools and was a member of the Orion Baptist Church. She was an accomplished seamstress, employed by Eudema Hoffman in Moline, as a custom quilter.
