Betty A. James, 79, of Port Byron, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at her home.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 1, 2010 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38 Ave., Moline. Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 P.M., Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Geneses Hospice Care.
Betty was born September 8, 1931 in Philadelphia Township, Cass County, Illinois the daughter of Harrison J. and Anna M. (Johnson) Garner. She married McCoy L. James on June 25, 1949 in Moline.
Betty worked for 8 years with the former Illinois Bell as a telephone operator. She then worked for the Service Rubber Company as a gum cutter for 17 years. She later worked at Trinity Hospital as a switchboard operator retiring in March of 1993 after 17 years.
She attended Wildwood Baptist Church, East Moline and a member of ABWA, Heritage Chapter. She was a square dancer with the Quad Wranglers.
