Betty Marie Johnson

Betty Marie Johnson, 90, of Moline, passed away at UPH Trinity in Rock Island on Tuesday, June 18, 2019.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline.  Visitation is one hour prior to service at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park.  Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army (701 19th Ave., Moline) or American Cancer Society (3727 Blackhawk Rd., Rock Island).

Betty was born on September 5, 1928, in Moline, the daughter of Carl J. and Beda Olivia (Thornbloom) Johnson.  She worked as an Expediter for Case I.H. in East Moline for 17 years.  Betty was a well-known golfer in the Quad Cities and achieved 7 hole in ones.  The last one being made at age 77.  She held memberships at Oakwood Country Club and Millcreek Country Club.

She was also a member of the First Lutheran Church, Moline.  Betty spent several months in Europe during 1952, traveling by ship and then flying home.  She took her nieces and nephews on many trips when they were younger.  Betty also enjoyed going to the casino, card club with friends at Oakwood and was a long-time bowler.  She was also an avid Cubs fan, watching the games on TV and was able to go to one of their games.

Survivors include her nieces; Sally (Dean) Herbst, Silvis, Susan (Jim) Rounds, Colona, Marsha (Carl) Nelson, Chanhassen, MN; nephew, Mark (Dawn) Johnson, Davenport; great nieces and nephews; Katia Anderson, Richard Herbst, Krista Wyffels, Lisa Rounds, Greg Rounds, Wendy Arnold, Daniel Johnson, Luke Nelson, Emily Rust, and Jeffery Nelson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Johnson; brothers, Ralph Johnson and Kenneth Johnson.
