Betty L. McSparin, 82, of Coal Valley, IL died Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo, IL, surrounded by her children.
A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline, IL. There will be an Order of the Eastern Star Service conducted by Chapter 258 at 7 p.m. Per her wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Burial of ashes will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2012 at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Home or to the Order of the Eastern Star.
Betty was born on December 24, 1929, in East Moline, IL, the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Powers) Miller. She married Robert McSparin on April 20, 1951 in Moline. Betty worked in the Collections Department for Montgomery Elevator which is now KONE. In 1992 she became the Grand Martha in Order of the Eastern Star in the state of Illinois. In the past she was a Grand Lecturer for several chapters of OES. Betty was a member of the Moline Cribbage Club and was a big Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, reading, playing cards, and gambling at the boat.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Steven Krachum.
