Betty Jean O'Leary

Betty Jean O’Leary, 83, of Orion, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and private inurnment will be at Western Township Cemetery. The family asks that instead of flowers, donations be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Orion, is assisting the family.

Betty was born on February 3, 1939, in Batesville, Arkansas, the daughter of Charles and Sophia (Rudisill) Parrish. She married Robert “Deano” O’Leary on November 17, 1956, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Colona. He preceded her in death on February 21, 2016. Betty was previously employed as a secretary at Orion High School.

Survivors include her daughters, Cathy (Jack) Nathan, LeClaire, Iowa, Lisa (Ron) O’Leary Volk, Geneva, Illinois; grandchildren, Jenna (Jason) Ekstrom, Des Moines, Iowa, Joshua (Maddie) Nathan, Chicago, Illinois, Aaron Volk, Denver, Colorado, Jacob Volk, Cedar Falls, Iowa, Savannah (John) Herrera, Carbondale, Illinois; great grandchild, Oliver Ekstrom, Des Moines, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Brian Charles O’Leary; and parents.
