Betty Jean Olson, 93, of Moline, IL, died Friday, December 22, 2017, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.
A celebration of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017, at Homewood Evangelical Free Church, 3303-60th Street, Moline. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Private burial will be at Moline Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Youth Hope Moline, Alex’s Lemonade Stand or Special Olympics of Southern California.
Betty was born on November 3, 1924, in Aledo, IL, the daughter of John and Florence Minteer Ramsden. She married Robert D. Olson on October 19, 1946, in Aledo, IL, and he preceded her in death on July 30, 1969. She was a school secretary for Moline High School, retiring in 1989.
Betty was a living example of a godly woman who faithfully served her family as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a charter member of Homewood Evangelical Free Church, where she served faithfully for many years in the church, women’s ministries, and White Cross. She personally supported various groups and missions. Betty was a woman of great strength and held a strong will to live with an unwavering faith in God.
Survivors include her children, Janice (Steve) Lanzen, Galena, IL, Peggy (Dave) Hadacek, San Diego, CA, and Brad (Chris) Olson, Moline, IL; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Sarah Lanzen, and her great grandson, Brantley Francis.
