Betty J. Temple, 84, of Moline, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Trinity Pathway Hospice, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be 11:30 A.M., Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M., Friday, February 25, 2011 at the funeral home with a memorial service conducted by the Moline American Legion Auxiliary Unit #246 at 6:45 P.M. Burial is at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal on Monday, February 28, 2011. Anyone wishing to attend the burial must be at the funeral home by 8:15 A.M. Memorials may be made to Moline Public Library.
Betty was born February 11, 1927 in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of William McMahon and Minnie Walstrom Myers. She married Donald E. Temple on November 10, 1945 in Moline. He preceded her in death on April 20, 2005.
Betty was a Plans & Concept Specialist at the Rock Island Arsenal retiring in1985. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. She was active in the Moline American Legion Auxiliary Unit #246 having been the past president, past district director, and past division president. She was a member of 8/40 Rock Island County Salon #137 of which she was a Petit Chapeau Passe. Betty was a member of TOG Miniatures, a group that met monthly crafting doll houses and accessories including furniture, clothes, and gardens, and also shadow boxes and miniature rooms. Betty also enjoyed watching birds, especially chickadees, at the feeder in her front yard.
