Bettylee Ethel Abington, 82, formerly of Moline, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Per her wishes private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park, Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. is assisting the family.
Bettylee was born on August 2, 1927 in Detroit Michigan to Frank and Augusta W. Poserk Roch. She married Charles Jackson; he survives her, she later married Donald Cobert, he preceded her in death. She then married Donald Abington on December 24, 1970 in Moline and he preceded her in death on September 8, 1999.
Bettylee had fond memories of her huge family in Detroit and her dog Pudgy. She had four sisters and seven brothers. Bettylee was the youngest girl in the family and was blessed with brothers that looked out for their little sister.
Bettylee was a homemaker and was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Moline VFW. She loved to sew and crochet and was a wonderful cook. Her fried chicken was especially memorable.
Bettylee was grateful for her wonderful friends; Joyce Bartrom, Harlene Revrilla, Marlyn Battles and Jackie Salmonson and will be missed at their Wednesday lunches together.
She is survived by children:
Sharon (David) Byrkit, Janet (Karter) Klabunde, Gregory (Wanda) Cobert, Craig (Jody) Cobert, Roxanne Cobert, Brian Cobert, Douglas Cobert & Bruce (Aimee) Abington.
Bettylee was blessed with 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother Robert (Rose) Roch
