Beverly “Bev” Ann Alter, 84, of Moline, passed away, December 29, 2023, at Clarissa C Cook Hospice House.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, at Riverside United Methodist Church in Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Rose Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Riverside United Methodist Church. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline is assisting the family.
Beverly was born on November 25, 1939, in Des Moines, IA, the daughter of Marjorie (Walker) and William Clarence. Bev married David Gillen in 1961 in Rock Island, IL, he preceded her in 1994. She later married Robert Alter in 1998 in Moline. She worked as a banker for First National Bank of America, National City Bank, and Wells Fargo. Bev started a Card Club in 1961 and is still active to this day, and she was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church. She loved to knit, crochet, and needlepoint, and in her younger years she bowled several games over 200. Above all was her love for her family and her greatest joy in the last several years were her two great grandchildren, Elias and Olive Bass.
Survivors include her husband Robert Alter; daughter Lori (Greg) Jager; stepson Duane (Megan) Alter; grandchildren Caden, Broc, Lane, Christopher, and Andrea Alter, and Alex (Kelsey) Jager and Catherine (Andy) Bass.
She was preceded in death by her first husband David Gillen, stepson Kevin, and brother William.
