Beverly K. (Moody) Bielema

Beverly Kay Bielema, 75, of Orion, Illinois passed away on August 4, 2017 at her residence.

A funeral service will be 10:00 on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Orion United Methodist Church, 407 twelfth Avenue, Orion.  Visitation will be on Monday from 4-7 at the church.  Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl is assisting the family with arrangements.  Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery in Cambridge.  Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in her name.

Bev was born on December 17, 1941 in Cambridge, Illinois the daughter of Harold and Gladyce Kistner Moody.  She married Donald L. Bielema on August 3, 1963 in Cambridge.

Bev attended Cambridge schools and graduated high school in 1960 and later from Augustana College in 1964.  She began her teaching career in the fall of 1964 in Andover teaching 8th Grade.  In 1965, she moved over to the Orion High School in the business department later moving to teaching mathematics.  During her career, she also taught typing and went on to start the computer program; she retired in 1994 after 30 years.  Bev then went on to work for the Mark of the Quad Cities in the ticket office for 11 years, retiring in 2004.

Bev was always proud of the fact that she was the first girl from Henry County to show a grand champion steer at the Illinois State Fair in 1954.  She was a former member of PEO chapter LZ as well as a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma.  Bev was an active member of the Orion United Methodist Church, having served as a youth leader and later on many church committees.  Bev, Don and their son, Thad traveled extensively having visited most of the 50 States.  She was known as an excellent cook and was very proud of her large collection of cook books.  Beverly enjoyed sewing, card clubs, the St. Louis Cardinals and her American Eskimo puppies, Jasmine and Kodi.

She is survived by her husband,
