Beverly Ann Sandlin, age 84, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 12, 2020, at St. Anthony’s Nursing Home in Rock Island, IL.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, August 14, 2020, at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Moline. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Anthony Nursing Home in Rock Island, to help fund entertainment for residents during COVID-19. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., Moline is assisting the family.
Beverly was born on February 19, 1936 in Winfield, Alabama. She was the fourth child, born with fiery red hair. Given her fiery spirit, we hypothesize that she came in with a storm, since she went out with a derecho. She moved to Illinois on her own, at 16, and went to work at Motorola. She often claimed her initials were on the rocket that went to the moon.
Her favorite activity was visiting with her sister, Norma, reminiscing on their time in Alabama, getting perms and discussing the family. In the 90’s and early 2000’s she was often found helping taking care of her granddaughter, after school, or as greeter at Walmart. For the last 6 years, she had suffered with dementia, losing many of her fond memories and recognition of her family.
She is survived by one sister, Margaret Corkren of Winfield, AL, her daughter, Michelle Summers of East Moline, IL, son Mickey Osborn (Judie) of Winfield, AL, and two grandchildren Arielle Thibodeaux (Greg) of Indianapolis, IN and Mason Osborn of Winfield, AL. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Norma Anderson, Jack Sandlin and Louis Sandlin.
