Beverly J. Vickroy, 85, of Sherrard, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017, at her home.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m., Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Orion Christian Church, 12312 U.S. Highway 150, Orion. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Cremation rites will follow the funeral service and private family burial of cremains will be at Western Township Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the church. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion, is assisting the family.
Beverly was born on February 15, 1932, in Moline, the daughter of Cyril J. and Eva A. (Gordon) Whitesides. She married Roger C. Vickroy on December 27, 1950, in Port Byron, IL. He preceded her in death. From 1967-1974, they worked as missionaries in South Africa, which they continued to support for 40 years. She worked for the U.S. Army Armament, Munitions and Chemical Command’s 9mm Pistol Office, retiring as a Secretary (Stenographer) on March 24, 1989.
Beverly was a member of the Orion Christian Church. She especially enjoyed playing the piano, her Bible studies, and world travel. She also enjoyed watching all her grandchildren. Her greatest love was working in her flower gardens and feeding the wild birds.
Survivors include her children, Linda (Ron) Over, Preemption, IL; Dr. Patricia A. Vickroy, Orion; and Diane (Jim) Welborn, Orion; grandchildren Jude Lensly, Azure (Welborn) Thill, Aaron Welborn, and Chantal (Milem) Irish; 10 great grandchildren; and 15 great great grandchildren.
