Billy R. Davidson, age 82, of Davenport, died Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Trinity at Terrace Park, Bettendorf.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 27, 2008 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd. 6601-38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation is from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 5.00 pm. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt, IA with military honors conducted by DeWitt American Legion Post #338. Memorials may be made to the family.
Billy was born December 29, 1925 in Pittsburg, KS, the son of Raymond O. and Vinial (Shipley) Davidson. He married Margaret Reiling on June 18, 1949 in DeWitt. She preceded him in death on September 23, 1999.
Billy was employed as a mechanic at International Harvester for 33 years, retiring in June, 1981. He was a World War II Army veteran and has since been honored by the Jewish community for his participation in the liberation of the concentration camps. Billy was a member and past master of Bettendorf Masonic Early Morning Lodge No. 672. He was also a member of the Rock Island Conservation Club, Mississippi Valley Ceramic Association, the Davenport Moose and CASI.
