Billy J. Williams, 64, of Victoria, IL, died on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at his home.
A Memorial Service will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601 38th Avenue, Moline. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the funeral home. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be at National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal. Military Honors will be performed by the Moline American Legion Post #246. Memorials may be made to his family or a charity of your choice.
Billy was born on July 30, 1947 the son of Kenneth B. and Colleen D. (Franks) Williams. He married Saundra Wells in November of 1968. He later married Linda S. Dyer on February 13, 1998 in Mission, TX. Billy began his career with John Deere in 1965 as a welder. For the last 18 years of his career, he was the shop chairman for UAW Local 434, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Moline VFW Post # 2153 and former member of the Moline American Legion Post #246. Billy enjoyed playing the guitar and fishing. He was a loving family man who did not know a stranger. Billy was always the first one to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His greatest joy was having his family together.
